RE-ELECT KAREN SHENTON STONE AS CONSTABLE OF ST MARTIN

Island Wide

Without a seat in the States Assembly, the Connétables would not be able to succeed. I will continue to represent you in the States Chamber to deliver for both Parish and Island.

From 2022 I served as Chair of the Privileges and Procedures Committee (Leader of the Assembly) for three years, introducing a range of reforms to improve the administration of our democracy.  Over the last eight years I have held numerous roles including Vice Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Member of Corporate Services and most recently member of the Health and Social Security Scrutiny Panel holding Ministers to account.

I successfully secured funding for The Violence against Women and Girls Taskforce which has proved to be a phenomenal success over the last four years.  The recent legislation brought by the Minister for Justice and Home Affairs will make a significant improvement to the protections for women and girls in Jersey. If elected, I will ensure that the Government of Jersey continues to deliver these vital policies.

I will also work with all members to combat the rising cost of living and help deliver the Government’s Road Safety Strategy that I originally initiated through a Proposition. I remain a committed advocate for Jersey’s agriculture, its natural environment, and access to Arts, Heritage, Culture and Sport.

I believe that my record clearly demonstrates that I do listen and I do deliver as outlined above. I wholeheartedly believe in transparency and accountability. By introducing the None of the Above ballot option from my previous term, every candidate standing on 7th June will face a ballot thereby delivering greater choice and democracy.

It was an enormous privilege for me to speak on behalf of the States Assembly at the 80th Anniversary of our Liberation in which I tried to convey; that we must remain an inclusive, forward-looking Island, regardless of the direction that other jurisdictions may seek to follow.

I am an independent candidate, and I hope that my record both within the States Assembly and within the Parish has shown that independent States members can truly influence and deliver for our Island community.

I will continue to defend the role of the Connétable and ensure that this position is maintained in a way that is responsive to the needs of contemporary Parish and Island life.

Together we can build a fairer, safer, greener, more accountable and more inclusive island, and continue to make St. Martin the best parish to live in.
